In an effort to increase member participation in club activities, influence higher levels of attendance at regional Buick events, and to just have some friendly competition amongst club members, MAGNA has formed a drag racing Points Series for 2006.

Serious racer? Just curious about drag racing? It doesn't matter! Participating in this Points Series will be a GREAT way to learn more about racing, learn more about your car, and just have fun! Veteran club members will be present at all Points Series events to answer questions and take time to help you make your first ¼ mile pass. Don’t miss these chances!

1. Full Name.
2. turbobuicks.com screen name if applicable.
3. How you will pay the entry fee (PayPal, U.S. Mail, or in person).

The Points Series entry fee is $10. 100% of all money gathered will go to the winners. Payment can be submitted in person at a club function, via U.S. Mail, or via PayPal. Send PayPal to: xxxdonations@magnabuick.com (remove "xxx" from address).

• The 2006 MAGNA Points Series is open to all MAGNA Club Members (must be a member to compete, learn how to join for free here!).
• Racers must be using cars approved for club membership (Turbo Regal or TTA).
• Racers do not need to race the same car in all 5 events, it just needs to be a Turbo Regal or TTA.
• If at the end of the Points Series we have two or more racers with the same number of points, the number of elimination wins will be used to decide a winner. If need be, we will also look at the number of runner-up finishes, and so on.
• An awards presentation will be held at the MAGNA Monthly Get-together immediately following the completion of the Points Series. 100% of all money gathered will go to the winner(s).
• All safety rules are dictated by track personnel.
• MAGNA is in no way affiliated with the tracks or events listed in our Points Series.
• The MAGNA Points Series is solely organized by the club, and is not affiliated with any other organization or event.

Stay up to date! The best way to keep up to date on event information, updates, points standings, etc., is by frequently visiting the MAGNA bulletin board.

Listed below are the 5 events that will make up the 2006 MAGNA Points Series.

• Event #1 - March 26 - Downs Ford- Buick vs. Ford & Mustangs. Atco Dragway (Rainout)
• Event #2 - July 8th - GM EFI Race Series. Raceway Park
• Event #3 - September 2 - Buick Performance Weekend. Raceway Park  (Rainout)
• Event #4 - October 14 - East Coast Buick Regionals. Cecil County Dragway
• Event #5 - November 19 - Downs Ford- Buick vs. Ford & Mustangs. Atco Dragway
• Awards Ceremony

Series points will be awarded 3 ways:

1. Points Distribution.
2. Bonus Points.
3. Best 4 out of 5.

Points Distribution:
Racers will earn points by completing each round of competition.

Note: Racers do NOT have to compete in the same bracket class as everyone else.

Bonus Points:
Racers will have the opportunity to win Bonus Points at each event. Bonus Points are used to encourage racers to: 1) Participate in all events (Participation), 2) Help out with club duties (Event Coordination), and 3) Reward good driving (Perfect Reaction Time).

Notes:

1. If chosen, you can opt out of being Event Coordinator. In that case another name will be drawn.
2. The Event Coordinator does not have to be racing that day, but must be registered for the Points Series in order to receive the bonus points.
3. If not racing, the Event Coordinator's involvement will still count towards the Participation bonus.

Best 4 out of 5:

There are 5 events in the Points Series. Racers earn points from their performance at each event, however we’re only going to count the points from 4 of the 5 events.

Why? The Best 4 out of 5 is being used to: 1) give us the biggest field of competitors possible, 2) not discourage anyone from competing if they miss an event, and 3) allow you to "throw out" a race that you may have bombed so that you don't ruin your chances of winning the series.

Notes:

1. If an event is cancelled, then we will take the best 3 out of 4, and so on.
2. Racers who compete in all events will still receive the 20 Participation bonus points.
3. All bonus points earned during any of the Points Series events will still count towards your final series score.

As mentioned at the beginning, this is the first time MAGNA has done anything like this. We think we have everything covered, but there is always a chance that we may come across a few issues along the way. With that being said, check the MAGNA bulletin board frequently.
